Gradings

Here you will find all the information on gradings you require, from dates, results and examiners of Dan Gradings, through to the syllabus for Kyu and Dan Grades.

The SKF has a system of Junior Grades for children to help them prepare for Kyu grades. The Junior Grades are as follows: White (Beginner), Yellow, Orange, Green, Blue, Purple and Brown. These are awarded by your club instructor.

Kyu Grades (or adult Grades) follow the same system, but with three levels of brown belt and start with White (9th Kyu) through to third Brown (1st Kyu).

1st to 3rd Dan Black Belts are examined at a Dan Grading with a panel of five 5th Dan and above examiners. 4th Dan and above are awarded for services to the Scottish Karate Federation.
